As part of its mission to protect family businesses, our team worked with a major family business organization to develop the infrastructure necessary to identify, educate and mobilize constituents from across the country to raise awareness about the looming expiration of the Death Tax cuts passed by Congress in 2001. Congress was poised to consider whether to continue the phase out of the Death Tax or to lock it in permanently.

A major wireless provider was prepared to launch a new service in six key markets. In order for the company’s cellular network to be operational by the launch date, they needed to secure the approval for the placement of their antennas across multiple jurisdictions. The antenna placements required approval at multiple levels of government including state agencies, boards of supervisors, park commissions, executive offices and historic preservation councils. For the better part of a decade, tobacco farmers and growers had been trying to secure a buyout of their tobacco quota. Without a coordinated message, the significant opposition from a number of different interest groups and the shear cost of the legislation made passage of tobacco buyout legislation extremely unlikely.
